Beatrice Wood-was an American artist and studio potter involved in the Avant Garde movement in the United States; she founded The Blind Man magazine in New York City with French artist Marcel Duchamp and writer Henri-Pierre Rochéin 1916.[1] She had earlier studied art and theater in Paris, and was working in New York as an actress. She later worked at sculpture and pottery. Wood was characterized as the "Mama of Dada." She was quite the character and had much to say about life and art. She lived to be 95, when she passed away in 1998. Trivia- she was the character "Rose" in the movie Titanic!! Respond to this: Is your art too precious to sell? My art work isn't to precious to sell in my eyes. I don't think I would ever not part from my art work. I'm not sure why, but I don't find every piece I create to have sentimental value.

I don't not like to sell the thing ive made. The only reason I don't is cause after working so hard on it I want to keep it especially if it turns out really well. Theres one sculpture I could never let go and that's the artist inspired project we doe last year. I could never get rid of that all because of how much work I put into it. Also how many time I had to rebuild it over and over again. It caused me so much trouble to to the point where I had to love it and would never get rid of it.

Some of my pieces, I would sell in a heart beat and not think twice about it. Not because I don't like how it turned out, but I think the main factor for me is the time I put in to it. Also, if it's just a plain bowl thrown on the wheel, I would have no problem selling it, but if I put my own personal touch on the piece it will then have meaning to me.

Some of my pieces I would keep if I worked really hard on them, but some of my pieces I don't really like and I could sell them. If one of my pieces was like a plain bowl I think I could sell it because I didn't put a lot of time into it and doesn't really have any sentimental value. My statue I made I don't think I could sell it, because I put a lot of work into it and I think it turned out really nice.

I think the things I make can all be parted with. Since I am a beginner, I am only learning new things and getting better each time. So, until I reach a point where my work is somewhat flawless, I can always part with my work.

I do not find my artwork to be too precious to sell. If I make something that I am proud of I may want to keep it, however I am not opposed to selling my work. I do not feel "attached" to my work since I am still learning and creating new things.

I do not find my art to be too precise to sell, if it is a simple piece that I have not spent some much effort making I would sell it. But when it comes to sets I have made and pieces that I have taken a while to finish I would not what to it.

Personally, I don't like selling things that I've made because they are unique and one of a kind. These pieces are special to me and I worked so hard on them so the last thing I wouldn't want to do is to sell them. Most people don't understand the personal connection to pieces you've made and just buy them for decoration or things as such. I want the pieces I've made to be used for whatever I desire and know they're being used the way I want them to.

I do not believe that my art is too precious to sell. I don't believe that I have made a piece that I wouldn't part with yet either. However, I hope to do so. I would like to make something that I am proud enough to keep and not want to get rid of. I just don't think that I've made that piece yet, but I am confident that I can and I will.

I do have pieces that are too important to me to sell. For example, I have some of my first thrown pieces at home I wouldn't get rid of and an octopus teapot set I wouldn't get rid of. Both of these are important to me because they are my first and I've worked very hard on them. Most of the other things I've made I would be able to get rid of. I like knowing that other people have/are using my work.

Some of my pieces I don't think I would want to sell. This being b/c I took my time to throw or make them with my time and it's like I wouldn't want to just sell them or give them away. I wouldn't mind it for some of the things but the stuff I make I usually enjoy them.

I don't think most of my peices are good enough to sell. Also I wouldn't want to sell my peices because of the person value to, like my bubble gum machine I can't wait to put that in the game room it will be a cool peice to go in that room

Even though I love every single one of my pieces that I make i think there are a few pieces that I could part with. I come from a family where money is very tight so every penny counts but at the same time my ring jugs are my favorite pieces and I don't think I could part with them even if the price was very high because they took a lot of time and effort and mean a lot to me

I feel as if the pieces I make that are quality, shouldn't be sold because I made them and they are one of a kind. I may try to duplicate it and it wouldn't be possible due to the way the glazes react during firing. Simple things like mugs and bowls I would be perfectly fine with selling because I would like to know that they are using and enjoying my work.
